Saunas require specialized maintenance because they combine heating equipment, electrical systems, temperature controls, ventilation, timber structures, lighting and, in some installations, steam-generation and plumbing systems. A fault in one component can affect the performance and safety of the entire wellness facility.

Because sauna systems often operate alongside swimming pools, Jacuzzis, steam rooms and other wellness equipment, pool-and-spa contractors can be relevant when a repair involves several connected systems.
Common Sauna Problems in Nairobi
A sauna can develop several different faults depending on its age, design, usage and maintenance history.
Sauna Not Heating
A non-heating sauna may have a failed heating element, thermostat, temperature sensor, control system or electrical supply problem. Refitec specifically recommends diagnosing the cause before replacing expensive components.
Heater Keeps Tripping the Breaker
Repeated breaker trips can indicate an electrical fault, excessive current draw, damaged heating elements, wiring problems or moisture-related leakage. This should be investigated by a qualified technician rather than repeatedly resetting the breaker.
Steam Room Produces No Steam
Steam rooms can stop producing steam because of blocked filters, scale accumulation, water-supply problems, heating-element faults or control-system problems.
Unstable Temperature
Temperature fluctuations may be associated with sensors, thermostats, controls, heater performance, ventilation or other components.
Damaged Sauna Interior
Benches, timber panels, doors, seals, lighting and ventilation components can deteriorate with continued exposure to heat and moisture.
What to Check Before Hiring a Sauna Repair Provider
Before approving repairs, request an inspection and ask the provider to identify the actual fault.
Important questions include:
-
What component has failed?
-
Can the component be repaired or does it require replacement?
-
Is the replacement part compatible with the sauna model?
-
Does the quoted price include labour?
-
Is electrical work required?
-
Does the technician inspect the control panel and sensors?
-
Is there a warranty on replacement parts?
-
Is preventive maintenance available after the repair?
-
Does the provider handle both sauna and steam-room systems?
-
Can the provider service commercial installations?
A written diagnosis can be particularly useful for hotels, gyms, spas and property managers because it creates a record of the equipment condition and recommended corrective work.
Sauna Repair and Maintenance Services
Professional sauna servicing can cover much more than fixing a heater. Depending on the installation, technicians may inspect the electrical system, heating elements, controls, sensors, ventilation, lighting, timber, doors, seals, benches and related plumbing or steam equipment.
For commercial wellness facilities, preventive maintenance can also help identify deteriorating components before they result in extended downtime.
The eight providers above represent different categories of sauna-related service providers in Nairobi. Bestcare Facilities Management provides sauna-related work within a broader facilities-management offering, while companies such as Aqualite, Poolshop EA and Lilam focus more heavily on pool, spa, sauna and wellness infrastructure. Pro-Logic Technologies and Refitec publish more specific technical information concerning sauna and steam-system troubleshooting and repair, while RepairKE offers technician-based repair services.
When selecting a provider, compare the technician's experience with your specific sauna type, the fault diagnosis, replacement-part compatibility, safety procedures, warranty terms and ongoing maintenance options rather than relying only on the quoted repair price.
